Clinical Assessment:
Prior to admission into our program we require that you make an appointment for a clinical assessment to determine the extent of your problem, how it has affected your life, and the best treatment program to meet your needs. If it is decided that you would benefit more by treatment in another program, we will make a referral for you. Our assessment is free to you whether you enter our program or not. Treatment Planning:
You will meet with your counselor to choose your goals and develop an individualized treatment plan. You will review and adjust your treatment plan on a regular basis to make sure that you are accomplishing your goals or to devise a different approach that might work better for your changing needs.
Treatment Occurs in Two Phases:
PHASE ONE – eight weeks of small group counseling and education. A combination of counseling and educational approaches are utilized to best help you which include, but are not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, stress management exercises, assertiveness training, identifying your triggers, and relapse prevention. Depending on your unique situation, you may look at ways to decrease depression, resolve trauma, and grieve losses that may contribute to your use of alcohol, drugs or gambling. We encourage you to attend self-help groups on your own. Therapy groups are small, usually 8 people or fewer, so that you receive all the time and attention you need from the counselor. Group sessions meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for three hours per session. We offer afternoon and evening sessions. Our afternoon group runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and our evening group is from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
PHASE TWO – In Phase Two, you will attend 10 months of aftercare. The aftercare sessions meet once a week with a licensed counselor for an hour and a half per session. During this time, you will work on maintenance of your new behaviors. This is also a time for many people to fine tune their changes, experiment with new healthy behaviors, and improve family dynamics and relationship. Your aftercare counselor is trained to help you accomplish these goals.
