Each family member is affected by the alcohol, drug, and gambling problems of another family member. We know from research and our own experience that the incidence of long-term recovery increases dramatically when the family participates in the healing process. Addictive problems can leave a host of emotional scars on family members and it is important, both for the family members and the client, that the family becomes involved in their own recovery process.
The Family Program is a series of educational and therapeutic sessions designed to provide family members with the necessary tools and support to make their own life changes and recover from the effects of alcohol, drugs, and gambling in the family. Family members are assisted in developing a greater understanding of the impact of addictive behaviors on relationships and how he or she has reacted to these effects. This program provides hope, resources and realistic expectations for the recovery experience of the whole family during and after treatment.
During the Family Program sessions are offered in a multi-family format lead by a licensed counselor who is experienced in working with families where alcohol, drugs, or gambling have been a problem. Family members learn they are not alone; that there is help and support for them.
We believe so much in having family members participate in this program that we offer it to family members, friends, and significant others of our clients, at absolutely no charge.
